Pip's Story:
Pip was found as a stray in
Missouri. The good samaritan who found him considered keeping
him, calling him "Corgi", but he wanted to chase the horses too
much. He was confined to a stall in the barn for the next
month. He developed a bad habit of not allowing anyone to
catch him when he could escape from his stall. "Corgi" soon
found his way to Green Country Pembroke Welsh Corgi Rescue in Tulsa,
OK.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a
rather plump (40 pounds) red and white 2 year old corgi. He
had a bouncy personality and loved meeting all the people and
animals. It only took a couple of sessions before he learned
to come to us when he was outside. He was very smart and had
gotten the best of his initial rescuer, but we spoke "corgi" and he
quickly learned the rules. Deciding he needed a better name
than "Corgi", we changed it to "Corey".
Corey soon adjusted to life in Tulsa
and started his diet. When Joan Kramer, a retiree from Sedona,
AZ contacted us about a corgi, it became apparent it was a
perfect match for Corey. He was soon winging his way to
Arizona to his new home. We got the excited call from a teary
Joan as soon as he arrived, saying he was "wonderful". It was
soon followed by a huge bouquet of flowers. It's not often we
get someone so excited about adopting one of our corgis that we get
pictures of him as soon as he gets off the plane. Joan even
sent us a picture of him doing his business at the airport! No
doubt about it, "Pip"had found his forever home!
We've continued to get glowing updates
from Joan and Pip. In one of her early notes, Joan wrote "He's
settled in nicely in his new home. My grandson came to visit
for a week, and he and Pip became best friends. I consider
myself very lucky to have such a wonderful dog!"
We got a 2005 Christmas card, showing a
much slimmer Pip with a smiling Joan. "Thank you so much again
for sending Pip to me! He's a wonderful companion -
affectionate, intelleigent, and a rapid learner. He's an even
better dog than I had hoped for. PS He's 28 lbs now. I
give him raw carrots for treats.

This is Carrie, who lives in the
Colorado area:

Carrie, the 74 pound Corgi, is down to a
svelte 58 pounds and in her new home, where they take her to our vet
every two weeks for a weigh-in. She had such a lovely personality
that I cried the whole way to her new home, I've never gotten so
attached before. My boys (almost grown-ups) called her "Gigantor,
Ruler of Worlds" and I knew I couldn't keep her until she was down
to her healthy weight or she would stay. Bless her. There was
nothing at all wrong with her; she was surrendered by her
second home because she wouldn't play with their other dog. Our
shelter wouldn't put her up for adoption and gave her to
me.

Tri Guy, is an 8 year old
Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He was surrendered by a breeder.
TriGuy is a loving and social corgi. He loves to be with
people, and sometimes likes to play with other dogs. He
has a new home in SD!
